Glass Railing

1.Products:
The aluminum railings assembled, according to Alumiguard MFG standards, are consistent with the regulations of the Ontario Building Code applicable.
2.Materials;
2.1 Components
The railing components are composed of aluminum extrusions alloy 6063-T5.
The post AG 001 is extruded in a high-strength aluminum alloy with superior mechanical characteristics. It includes an AG 002 aluminum base for the installation on top of concrete slabs and an AG 003 aluminum bracket for the installation on the face of concrete slabs allowing a perfect adjustment of each aluminum post.
The glass panels are tempered or laminated and are in compliance with safety requirements of the glass of OBC (OBC 9.8.8.7. glass in Guards). They are inserted into aluminum glass channels AG 008 and kept tight using rubber U-channel extrusions.
The top aluminum handrail, AG 005 depending on the choice of the customer comes in 3 different styles, Rectangular, Round and Crown with a length of maximum 192 inch. The bottom aluminum handrail AG 009, comes in lengths of maximum 192 inch.
Posts of both types of installation and aluminum Bases of the top mounted version are covered with Plastic Covers AG 016 which fit the component.
2.2 Railing finish
The railing systems will be powder-coated with colors to be selected by the customer. Alumiguard MFG standard colour chart comprises White, Warm Beige, Black, Clay, Commercial Brown, Charcoal and Cashmere.
2.3 Bindings
Lag screws for wood are in stainless steel, 410 SS/ 304S. Wood blockings under the deck are used to fix the Lag screws. Self-tapping screws are used for other assemblies and are in stainless steel
3.Fabrication / Installation
Alumiguard MFG aluminum railing system will be delivered on the job site in pre-assembled elements if the customer requires it and will be installed according to the Alumiguard’s MFG instructions
4.Railing Height
The total heights of the railing will be 1070mm minimum (42”) and minimum 920 mm (36”) where the walking surface served by the guard is not more than 1800 mm above the finished ground level. (OBC 9.8.8.3. Height of Guards).
For the exit stair the total height of the railing will be not less than 920 mm (36”) and for landings 1070mm minimum (42”).
All the measurements will be taken on the job site before the fabrication is made.
5.Submittals:
Submitted shop drawings will be sealed by a professional engineer and will indicate materials, dimensions, thicknesses, connections, joints method of anchorage, number of anchors, supports details, accessories, and relationship to adjacent work.
