The aluminum railings assembled, according to Alumiguard MFG standards, are consistent with the regulations of the Ontario Building Code applicable.
- Materials:
2.1 Components
The railing components are composed of aluminum extrusions alloy 6063-T5.
The posts are extruded in a high-strength aluminum alloy with superior mechanical characteristics.
Aluminum Base is included for the installation on top of concrete slabs.
Aluminum Bracket for the installation on the face of concrete slabs allowing a perfect adjustment of each aluminum post.
Standard posts are square shaped with dimensions of 3” x 3” and 2” x 2”.
Pickets are ¾” x ¾” are 3 ¼ inch c/c.
The spindles are ½” x ¾” are attached to the posts with self-tapping screws.
The top aluminum handrail depending on the choice of the customer comes in three different styles with a maximum length of 192”.

The bottom channel has a maximum length of 192”.
Posts of both Types of Installation with the Aluminum Bases of the Top Mount Version are covered with Post and Base Cap (Plastic) which fit the component.
2.2 Railing Finish
The railing systems will be powder-coated with colors to be selected by the customer. Alumiguard MFG standard color chart comprises White, Warm Beige, Black, Clay, Commercial Brown, Charcoal, and Cashmere.
2.3 Bindings
All anchor bolts and plugs for concrete shall be Steel Type 316 SS/ 304SS.
Self-tapping screws are used for other assemblies and are stainless steel.
- Fabrication
AlumiguardMFG aluminum railing system will be delivered on the job site in pre-assembled elements.
- Railing Height
The total heights of the railing will be 1070mm minimum (42”) and minimum 920 mm (36”) where the walking surface served by the guard is not more than 1800 mm above the finished ground level.
(OBC 9.8.8.3. Height of Guards).
For stairs the total height of the railing will be not less than 920 mm (36”) and for landings 1070mm minimum (42”).
All the measurements to be taken on the job site before the fabrication is made.
